The story goes that fries date back to 1680: the inhabitants of Namur, Andenne and Dinant in Belgium used to fish in the Meuse River and fry the little fish they caught to improve their diet

However, when rivers and streams froze over and it was dangerous to fish, people used to cut potatoes into the shape of little fish and fry them

BELGIAN DOG & FRITES

A typical Belgian fusion sausage of chicken, pork, beef and soft herbs, artisan made and served with diced onions, curry ketchup and mayonnaise. Served on a toasted bun, with frites. Our frites are hand peeled and cut daily from fresh Idaho potatoes and fried twice for a crisp outside and soft inside.

About Bruges Waffles & Frites

Pierre Vandamme was born and raised in Brugge (Bruges), Belgium. In March 2004, after living in Salt Lake City for 10 years, Pierre adapted an old family recipe for the Liège waffle and started a waffle business selling waffles on Main Street in Salt Lake City from a vending cart. The same year they operated the cart at the Downtown Salt Lake City Farmers Market and some local summer events.
